Mission Statement

Saint Xavier High School's Guidance Department is an integral part of the educational process. The dedicated professionals in the department work as student advocates in providing a number of services for our student body and their parents. Working closely with the administration and faculty, we promote the spiritual, intellectual, emotional and social development of the young men attending Saint Xavier. These services provided by the Guidance Department are as follows:

 Academic Counseling Personal Counseling
 Standardized Testing College Counseling
 Career Counseling

Being a college preparatory institution, Saint Xavier's counselors support students in achieving success academically, along with developing skills needed for college. Personal issues will be handled professionally, following the rules of confidentiality. Through personal and academic advising, the counselor works to allow the student to explore solutions using their own talents. Learning these techniques will be beneficial for future decision making after leaving Saint Xavier.

Saint Xavier provides nine counselors who will meet each student individually and visit classrooms for grade level presentations. Two counselors are assigned to a grade and continue with that student until the senior year. At that time, the student will be assigned a senior college counselor that specializes in the advising and application process for college. The senior counselors will consult with the student's past counselor in working to provide the best service to the student. The ninth counselor is a Learning Difference Resource Counselor responsible for assisting learning difference students in all of our programs at Saint Xavier.

Through a safe and nurturing environment, we believe it is important to help each student recognize his abilities, and potential as he experiences success as a Christian young man.
