ALERT OPTIONS AVAILABLE TO SCHOOL COMMUNITY

Saint Xavier High School's Website offers all members of the school community the ability to sign-up for alerts in the form of text messages to a cellular phone and/or e-mail notifications regarding specific events on the school calendar, specific news posts to the home page and most importantly, the option to be notified when the school has posted an "Urgent Alert" notification.  To subscribe to the alerts feature, click the alert link above or any alert icon on the bottom of any web page.  Specific directions are as follows:

·    Register as a new user by completing name, address and password information

·    Once registration is complete, update your personal information on the “My Profile” tab.  Enter your name and address information in the respective sections

·    On this same page in the “Contacts” section add your email address(es) by selecting “Add an Email Address”.  In the drop down box select what type of email you are  entering.  To add another email address again select “Add an Email Address” and add the additional address.  You will need to select which address is your primary email address

·    Any time you need to make a change to your email address click on the blue pencil to the right to make edits or click on the red X to remove the address

·    In the same section you may add a cell phone number to which you can receive text messages for Urgent Alerts.  Select the drop down box under your previously entered email address to choose what type of phone you want to use being sure it is a phone that is text enabled

·    Enter your cell phone number and select the box “Enable Text Msg”.  A message will pop up detailing that you must enter a phone that supports text messages.  Once you read the message select “ok” to proceed

·    Select the carrier that supports the phone on which you wish to receive text messages then select “Update Profile”

·    At this point you can add another cell phone or proceed to the next step to verify your phone.  If you add another phone number you must select “Update Profile” to proceed to the verification step 

·    You must verify your cell phone can receive text messages from us by selecting the “Verify” link

·    Once you click on the “Verify” link a box appears in which to enter a code.  Select “Request Code” and a message will appear indicating that an alert verification will be sent to that phone number

·    Select “Ok” to continue to receive your 6 digit verification code.  A message will appear that a verification code has been sent.  Select “Ok”

·    Once you have received the verification code via text message enter the code in the box provided and select “verify” to complete the verification

·    You must verify each cell phone number for which you wish to receive alerts

·    Once verification for all phones is complete proceed to the “My Subscriptions” tab (located at the top of the page)

·    Proceed to the “News Alerts” category, select “Settings” and under the “Select News Categories” click on the “SMS/Text Msg” and “Email” boxes next to “Urgent Alerts” to be notified of urgent matters related to school.  Select "Update Settings" then select "Log Off" at the top of the page when completed
