Blue Ribbon Awards

Saint Xavier High School is proud to be the only Kentucky school to have earned the U.S. Department of Education's Blue Ribbon Award four times - 1983-84, 1988-89, 1992-93, 2016.

On Tuesday, November 8 in Washington, D.C., the United States Secretary of Education John B. King, Jr. presented Dr. Perry Sangalli '76 and Mr. Francisco Espinosa, Jr. with the 2016 National Blue Ribbon School Award. St. X is one among 50 private schools and 279 public schools that received the honor.

National Blue Ribbon Schools are on education’s cutting edge, pioneering innovative educational practices from professional learning communities and project-based learning to social and emotional learning and positive behavior systems. St. X was nominated for the award by the Council for the Advancement of Private Education, and then completed a comprehensive application about school practices.

While in Washington, D.C., Dr. Sangalli and Mr. Espinosa were invited to host round-table discussions with other Blue Ribbon award recipients to share St. X's approach to educating the whole student, a topic identified from our mission, application and supporting materials used in the selection process.
