Powerlifters capture third state championship in four years
Congratulations to the Iron Tiger Powerlifting team which won the Kentucky High School State Push-Pull Championship. This marks the program's third championship in the last four years and 21st overall.
The Varsity team was led by individual state champions Matthew Meyer, Zach Schultz, Brendan Mulvihill, Camren Sams and Jack Hummel. Placing second in their respective weight classes were David Thompson and Cade Perram. Third place finishes were earned by Jared Beavers, Chris Kemper, Sam Brown, Will Padgett and JC Beinlein.
The JV team placed second overall and was led by individual state champions Wyatt Blair, JR Calvery, Paddy Walsh and Andrew Davis. Placing second were Donovan Ford, who broke a St. X deadlift record, and Riley Pate. Nick Bentley and Herman Hettinger finished in third place. Additionally, Evan Brown broke a St. X deadlift record.
This title marks St. X's fourth state championship in the 2017-18 school year with wins in Cross Country, Soccer and Swimming & Diving.
