Bill '61 and Mike '70 Glaser combine for more than 60 years of service to Tiger Athletics
On Friday, September 4, we opened the gates surrounding Brother Thomas More Stadium to Tiger Nation for the 2021 home opener versus Male. The seats haven't been accessible to fans since March 2020.
The night began as we honored Coach Bill Glaser and Coach Mike Glaser with the naming of the Glaser Stadium Plaza. The dedication recognizes their more than 60 combined years of service to our athletic programs and athletes.
Bill Glaser graduated from St. X in 1961. He coached Tiger Baseball teams for eight seasons (1967-1974), including five as head coach. Bill also devoted 11 seasons to coaching St. X Football teams (1965-1975), including his final two at the helm where his 1974 and 1975 state championship teams finished 25-0. Bill then embarked on a distinguished career as a collegiate coach. He returned to St. X in 2006 as an assistant coach to his brother, Mike. In those seven seasons, he was part of one additional state championship football team (2009).
Mike Glaser graduated from St. X in 1970. He served on the freshman Football coaching staff for four seasons (1970-1973) marking the beginning of his 43 years coaching St. X Football teams. He served as an assistant coach from 1974-1981 before taking the reins in 1982. During his 31 seasons as head coach, his teams claimed seven state championships (1986, 1992, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2004, and 2009). Mike’s retirement after the 2012 season was short-lived. He is beginning his eighth year as an assistant coach for the Tiger Basketball program.
