Camp X 2019

St. X is pleased to announce our summer camp schedule. Our campus will be busy in June and July as we offer 19 different programs including NINE co-ed opportunities. We invite you to explore Camp X for your children, grandchildren and neighbors.

Our Coding and STEM Camps will not be offered this summer due to construction and upgrades to our Technology Center. Both camps will be returning Summer 2020.


Online registration is available by completing the form below. You may register up to three different campers at one time.

A new lunch option is available for all campers. Lunch will be from 11:30-1:00 PM each day considering the time slot of different camps. Lunch is $30 for the week.

acting up: improvisational theatre - coed

Camp Format: Students will participate in a variety of improv activities similar to ones performed on Whose Line Is It Anyway? Through these improvs, students will learn basic acting techniques. Campers will receive a t-shirt.

Baseball

Camp Format – Current and former St. X coaches and players will work together to improve your baseball skills. The camp will focus on teaching the fundamentals of pitching, base running, hitting, throwing and fielding. All camp activities will be conducted at Saint Xavier High School. In addition to two full-size fields, our facilities include indoor/outdoor batting cages, indoor/outdoor pitching mounds, and access to a gym in the event of inclement weather.

Camp Information – Campers will receive a T-shirt and accident insurance. Players should provide their own gloves, bats, and equipment, if applicable. Campers should also bring a pair of baseball shoes (no metal spikes allowed) and tennis shoes with them to camp each day.

The following clinics will be available on weekends TBD during the 2019-2020 school year.

Pitchers and Catchers Clinic

This clinic is open to all pitchers and catchers. The two-day clinic is designed to give pitchers and catchers the opportunity to develop their talents in an instructional setting. The clinic will include fundamentals of each position and a live bullpen session.

Baseball Hitting Clinic

This clinic is open to all baseball players interested in improving their hitting. The two-day clinic is designed to give baseball players the opportunity to develop their talents in an instructional setting. The clinic will include mechanics of the swing, the mental approach to hitting, tee work, front toss, and live batting practice sessions.

Baseball Defensive Fundamentals Clinic

This clinic is open to all baseball players interested in improving their defensive fundamentals. The two-day clinic is designed to give baseball players the opportunity to develop their talents in an instructional setting. The clinic will include both infield and outfield defensive fundamentals. Catchers should attend the Pitchers and Catchers Clinic.

Camp Format – The camp will stress individual and team defensive and offensive fundamentals. Saint Xavier players and coaches will be on hand to assist with instruction and training. Daily games and contests will be played. Speakers will address the areas of academics, self-motivation, and how to become a better basketball player.

We will continue to host two Kindergarten – 4th grade camps. Campers in this age group will learn the fundamentals of the game while playing on 8-foot baskets and using intermediate basketballs. It’s never too early to develop a passion for the game!

Graduation will take place on the last day. Come join the fun this summer and work hard learning to improve your game!

Shooting Camp

July 25 - 26 | 3rd - 9th Grade boys | 9:00 - 12:00 PM | $50

Shooting is one of the most important parts of the game, although it is rarely taught correctly. Come enjoy two action-packed days filled with learning the proper way to shoot a basketball. Lectures, demonstrations, drills, video, and mechanics used by the world’s best shooters will be used to teach your son how to correctly shoot the basketball. Our goal is to teach each camper proper repetition of good mechanics that will develop the muscle memory needed to become a consistent shooter. Don’t miss out on this brand new opportunity to improve your game in the off-season!

Bowling - COED

Location: Executive Bowl

Camp Format – This camp gives beginning and experienced bowlers the chance to develop their bowling skills in all areas of the game. The camp will be held at Executive Bowl, located at 911 Phillips Lane and will be conducted by the St. X Varsity Team Coaches Vinnie Atria and Art Kelly.

Camp Information – The cost of the camp is $165 and includes a mid-performance bowling ball for each camper. Campers are not required to provide their own shoes or balls, but are welcome to bring them if they choose. For more information call the St. X Athletic Department at 502.635.5300.

Coding - returning 2020

Camp Format – Campers will learn the basics of writing computer code in Swift, Apple’s powerful programming language, through playing interactive games. Campers will also get to experience St. X’s new new zSpace Augmented Reality Lab.

Camp Information – Campers may bring their own iPad or use one of St. X’s. Campers will receive a St. X USB drive to take home.

Cross Country

June 10 – 13 - $50

Camp Format – The camp will stress running with teamwork and fun. Guest speakers will discuss various running subjects. College and high school runners will attend and talk about their running experiences. All campers are covered by accidental injury insurance for the week within policy limits. We will teach you the basics to become a good distance runner and have fun at the same time. Some topics covered will be: proper running form, pacing, pack running, nutrition, proper stretching, running games, interval workouts, tempo runs, and racing strategy.


We will have a race at the end of camp with team and individual awards. Campers will receive a T-shirt, running log, various handouts and a certificate of completion. Any boy entering the 6th through 9th grade interested in one of the oldest and fastest-growing high school sports is invited to attend.


Camp Information – Campers should wear running shorts, running shoes and a T-shirt. They should also bring a towel and a water bottle. We will meet in the cross country locker room which is by entrance number 1 to the football field. Camp Format – This camp is designed for all middle-school EXTREME STUDENTS who are looking for an exciting adventure this summer. Do the time, identify the slime, and solve the crime in St. X’s eXtreme SUMMER SCIENCE Forensics class. Learn the techniques used on the popular television series, CSI. Lift fingerprints, analyze blood spatter, and experience actual skeletonization. Get interactive with a virtual reality crime scene. Seats are limited so register early.

Football

Camp Format – St. X Tigers Football Camp is the premier non-contact camp that stresses football fundamentals for all offensive and defensive positions. St. X coaches and players will work with campers to develop proper understanding and the technique it takes to play each position. Campers will also concentrate on basic tackling and blocking techniques as well as learning team concepts with more in depth 7-on-7 play. In addition, each camper will be introduced to a basic strength training regimen and permitted to work out in one of the largest and best-equipped weight and fitness complex in the state. Come experience St. X Tigers Football – Commitment to Excellence!

Camp Information – Campers will receive a football. Campers should wear shorts, T-shirts, and running/tennis shoes. Cleats are optional, but should be brought in addition to running/tennis shoes. The camp will be at St. X on the stadium field and surrounding property. Campers may be dropped off at the circle by the Athletic Office/Campus Store starting at 8:30 AM.

printmaking fun - coed

JUNE 24 – 28 - $125
7TH - 8TH GRADErs | 9:00 – 12:00 PM

Join us for exploring the world of printmaking. This is open to all art skill levels! We will journey through various styles of printing from: Monoprints (these are one-of-a-kind prints that can never be duplicated!), Ghost prints (creative after-prints from first runs) and Linoleum cut prints where we can carve away from a surface and print the remaining areas as the design.


You will be able to create unique prints with both drawing and non-drawing methods. We will get our hands dirty and produce some treasures to take home!


We will be using Gelli Arts printing plates, acrylic paints/ink, felt markers, linoleum sheets and cutters. *Your child will learn how to utilize the cutters with specific rules for handling and safety.

Wearing shirt/shorts that you do not mind getting dirty (permanently) is encouraged! Aprons will be provided.

Camp Format – Come experience championship soccer! The camp will focus on the development of individual skills, team tactics and strategies in order to let the player develop individually, and become an important member of a team. Camper development will be assessed at the end of the camp. A special goalie division will be available focusing on specialized skills and strategies of goal keeping. All camp activities will be conducted at Saint Xavier High School. In the event of rain, access to a gym is available.

Camp Format: Many grade school students are interested in writing a novel. In this camp, students will learn some basic novel-writing techniques from the teacher (who has published two novels). Students who have started writing a novel can bring their novel to share with others. Students who haven’t yet begun their novel can do so in this camp

Sports Performance

July 9 – 12 - $100

Camp Format – This camp will introduce and teach fundamental strength movements, running technique, agility drills, conditioning methods, and stretching regimens. Athletes will also be given an “at home” program at the conclusion of the camp so that they may continue to develop their abilities after the camp is over. All athletes will be tested in events such as 40 and 60 Yard Dash, Pro Agility Shuttle, L Drill, Chin Ups, Broad Jump, Vertical Jump and others. Because this camp will incorporate universal athletic components, it is beneficial for athletes of ALL SPORTS!

Camp Information – Campers should wear shorts, T-shirts, and running/tennis shoes. Cleats are optional, but should be brought in addition to running/tennis shoes. To ensure the best quality and individual instruction, space will be limited. All sessions will be held in the Mueller Weight Center and, weather permitting, inside Brother Thomas More Page Stadium. Campers may be dropped off and picked up at the circle by the Athletic Office/Campus Store.

Stem - returning 2020

Our Coding and STEM Camps will not be offered this summer due to construction and upgrades to our Technology Center. Both camps will be returning Summer 2020.


Camp Format – The week of STEM camp will focus on two main areas: 3D printing and robotics. To start the week, students will use basic design software to design and make a unique 3D-printed object. Students will be introduced to the operation of 3D printers and the technology involved with the 3D printing process. For the rest of the week, students will work with the VEX IQ robotics system.

Camp Information – Campers will take home their printed 3D object. The robotic kits will be provided.

Seminar Format – This program is designed to introduce students of all ability levels to the necessary attitude and skills needed to be more successful in school and to form sound study habits. The seminar focuses on the skills necessary to succeed in everyday life and school: goal setting; listening; positive mental attitude; reasoning; time management; outlining/note taking; reading skills and test taking.

Seminar Information – Please choose one session only. The dress is casual but neat. Shorts and tennis shoes are acceptable. All materials will be provided. Each student will receive a booklet.

swimming - coed

The coaches at Saint Xavier would like to invite swimmers ages 8 and up to participate in this summer’s Tiger Swim Camp. Join our elite coaching staff this summer to enhance your skills in the pool and become a champion in the water. Swimmers must have a knowledge of the four competitive strokes and will be placed according to skill level. Swimmers will have the opportunity to improve their skills in each individual stroke using video analysis, as well as, learn to execute competitive starts and turns under direction of Head Coach Todd Larkin and his staff. The Tiger Swim Camp provides a safe, fun, learning environment for swimmers of various backgrounds to improve their swimming skills and technique.

Camp Format: Morning sessions focus on stroke specific technique, lunch is provided midday, and afternoon session focus is on turns and race strategies. Lunch will be included.

Training Center Format - Daily workouts will be conducted and planned by Coach Gil Downs, Assistant Coach Don Isaacs, Assistant Coach Dan Martin, and Assistant Coach Tyler Spears. Each day will emphasize all facets of the game: ground strokes, volleys, serves, returns, and specialized strokes, as well as the physical and mental discipline it takes to become a competitive player. We will focus on a different aspect of the game every day, including tactics and sportsmanship. Our competitive, live-ball drills are designed for match play situations and maximum player-on-player contact. Each day will end with match play by levels with on court coaching.

Because we want to provide a first-rate training experience, we will limit the TTT to the first 24 players per session. Signups for the camp will be closed 72 hours before the beginning of each session. A session will be cancelled if fewer than 10 players sign up.

With your participation you will receive:

  • Expert coaching and motivation to achieve at the highest of levels.

This training center is designed for all level players. Middle school age players are encouraged to sign up, as well as those entering St X as freshman next year and returning players or St X students. Volleyball

Camp Format - This camp will focus on the fundamentals of individual volleyball skills and incorporate them into team offensive and defensive strategies. Athletes will be trained in all areas of the game: passing, hitting, digging, blocking, serving, and setting. Participants will be divided into teams for the total team experience. Former players and current coaches will coach these camps.


Camp Information – Players are to wear tennis, basketball or volleyball shoes and bring a water bottle. Players are encouraged to wear knee pads but they are not mandatory. Camp Format – Become a global citizen with this panoramic view of language and culture through the Department of World Languages Summer Camp. Campers will be immersed in Spanish, French, German, and Chinese cultures through a variety of fun activities and hands-on experiences. At the end of the week, participants will have greater cross-cultural awareness, preparing them for success in the 21st century.

Camp Format – The camp will emphasize fundamental skills in the neutral, bottom and top positions. Primary scoring attacks and secondary scoring attacks from multiple positions on the mat will be taught. The camp is designed to improve skill levels for any age athlete. Whether you are a serious and experienced wrestler, or a beginner looking for one-on-one instruction, this camp is for you.

Kentucky and Texas State Champion coaches David Quirino, Efren Quirino, Isaac Knable, and Jim Kraeszig will instruct and motivate young wrestlers to achieve their highest potential as wrestlers and athletes..

Campers should bring wrestling shoes (or gym shoes), t-shirt, shorts and a pair of shoes that can be worn for outside conditioning or for weight lifting. Campers should also bring a water jug.

Intensity Wrestling Camp

Camp Format - The Intensity Wrestling Camp is open for wrestlers with a minimum of TWO YEARS EXPERIENCE unless cleared with Coach Knable or Coach Quirino. Wrestlers must be familiar in all wrestling positions, neutral, top, bottom. The intensity wrestling camp is designed around a college style practice, which is at a higher pace and intensity, and will also provide wrestlers with a series of wrestling and conditioning techniques, skills, and drills in order to take their wrestling to the next level. St. Xavier State Champion Coaches Jim Kraeszig, Efren Quirino and Isaac Knable will be camp instructors.

Camp Information - Campers should bring wrestling shoes, T-shirt, shorts and a pair of shoes that can be worn for outside conditioning or for lifting. Campers should also bring a water jug and bag lunch.
