Volunteer Opportunities
Ways to get involved include:
- Phonathon: Alumni volunteers are needed to call other alumni for donations to the school's Annual Fund, which supports tuition assistance. All volunteers receive dinner and a St. X promotional item and other opportunities to win prizes. Sign up as an Alumni Phonathon Volunteer in February/March by emailing Kelly Stratman.
- Alumni Association: Alumni volunteers are always welcome. The biggest need is having volunteer callers during the Alumni Phonathon in March. Other volunteer opportunities include writing articles for The Tiger alumni magazine and volunteering at our Alumni Association booth at the St. Joe's Picnic in August. Email Kelly Stratman or call 637.8485.
Alumni Service Opportunities
Join us to serve those in need
Alumni are invited to join St. X in service to the Louisville community as we work side by side with our students on service projects. We are in need of adults to help drive students to events, as well as chaperone and work alongside young men. This page contains a variety of projects and descriptions that would welcome alumni involvement.
By completing the online form below, you will alert the St. X Campus Ministry Department of your interests and a staff member can follow up with you.
GETHSEMANI
One Saturday a Month. We meet at St. X at 7:45 a.m., drive to Gethsemani, work and then return to St. X by 2:00 p.m.. Adults would be driving the students to and from the Abbey of Gethsemani.
PROJECT WARM
We will need a total of 50 adults for the annual Project Warm Blitz in November. We meet at St. X at 7:45 a.m., gather into groups, head to LG&E, eat breakfast, work, and return to St. X no later than 1:30 p.m.. Adults would be paired with a group and would work with a senior leader and other students to weatherize homes around the greater Louisville area.
SAINT JOSEPH OF ARIMATHEA SOCIETY
The Saint Joseph of Arimathea Society is dedicated to attending the burial services for the poor and indigent. Services are generally held on Thursdays at 10:00 a.m., noon and 2:00 p.m. We are in need of adults who are able to drive students from St. X to the funeral services. We usually are responsible for the 10:00 a.m. burial. We leave here at 9:15 a.m. and return by 11:00 a.m. There will always be an adult teacher accompanying the students to organize them for the prayer service.
LITTLE SISTERS OF THE POOR
Several times throughout the year we are asked to assist at the Nursing Home for various celebrations. These celebrations typically occur in the evenings and weekends. If you would like to be contacted when the need arises, please indicate on the form below.
ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECTS
We are often asked to assist with projects at the Parklands and Beargrass Creek Parks. These projects typically occur on the weekends. If you would like to be contacted when the need arises, please indicate on the form below.
There are a number of service projects throughout the year. As we generally only know about projects up to 2 months in advance, we only have a select number of dates listed below. If you know you are available for those dates, please indicate accordingly, otherwise please check which mailing lists you would like to be placed on.
