St. Francis Xavier Award Recipient

Donald J. Greulich '67

2017 Award Recipient

Don Greulich is a St. X engineer. Through his work as a school leader and his role in planning key components of our campus, Don has helped build the Saint Xavier campus we know today. He epitomizes the role of servant-leader because he stewards his God-given professional talents, personal time and hard-earned resources to provide a safe and comfortable home for generations of Tiger students.

After graduating from St. X in 1967 and serving in the United States Marine Corps, Don earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Kentucky University. In 1983, he co-founded Kerr-Greulich, Inc., an engineering solutions firm that focuses on providing innovative, cost-intelligent and energy-efficient mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. A firm of 35 employees, Kerr-Greulich's work can be found in numerous public and commercial projects in the Louisville region. The firm has expanded nationally, completing projects in 43 states, all teh way from Seattle, Washington to Miami Beach, Florida. Don remains as CEO of Kerr-Greulich, devoting his time to recruiting and mentoring the firm's young talent.

Don's professional services to Saint Xavier began in 1985. Since that time, he has been involved in campus projects ranging from energy-use guidance, equipment purchases, mechanical system designs, installing and renovations, utility relocations, and physical plant upgrades. Don served 12 years on the school's Board of Directors and chaired the Plant Committee. He remained on the Board for an extra term to provide guidance on the implementation of the final phases of the Project X Campaign. His work and leadership were instrumental in guiding St. X through a critical period of incredible physical change to our campus. Reflecting on his association with his alma mater, Don says, "The foundation that St. X provided me has ensured a life of stability. I am honored to have been able to return the favor."

Don serves on the Western Kentucky University Department of Engineering Board of Advisors and also holds a seat on WKU's President's Board of Advisors. He is a member of KIDS Center for Pediatric Therapies Board of Directors. In addition, he devotes time to Honor Flights Louisville and Little Sisters of the Poor.

Don is married to Jennifer Greulich. Their son, J.R. Greulich, is St. X Class of 1994 and Director of Finance at Kerr-Greulich, Inc. Don's brother, Dave Greulich, Class of 1963, is retired from Kerr-Greulich.
