Critical thinking

The Saint Xavier STEAM program offers dynamic, interdisciplinary learning that blends traditional coursework with hands-on experiences. Students explore specialized interests like computer science, engineering, and graphic design while engaging in cross-curricular concepts.

Innovation Lab: 21-st Century Creativity

The Saint Xavier Innovation Lab is a 2,000-square-foot space designed for hands-on learning, fostering creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. Open during classes and outside school hours, it’s a hub where students and teachers bring ideas to life.

Where Creativity Meets Technology
The lab features 3D printers, a vinyl cutter, a matte board cutter, and a sublimation printer for custom designs. Adjacent computer rooms provide Macs, PCs, CAD workstations, and VEX robotics kits for building and programming robots. Collaborative spaces support group projects and class activities.

Cutting-Edge Workshop
A newly upgraded workshop includes laser cutters, CNC routers, soldering irons, and traditional tools, enabling students to turn digital designs into physical prototypes. Together, the Innovation Lab and workshop empower students to explore, innovate, and create without limits.

At the heart of the program is the Innovation Lab, a state-of-the-art workspace equipped with cutting-edge tools and technologies. Open throughout the day, the lab fosters creativity and collaboration, bringing together students from diverse disciplines to work on innovative projects.

STEAM In Action

Every STEAM course and co-curricular activity at Saint Xavier is designed to foster critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration, preparing students to thrive in a rapidly evolving world.

Fine Arts & Technology: Courses like Graphic Design and Innovation Art leverage 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC routers, and software like Adobe Creative Suite to merge creativity with technology.

Engineering: Students in Engineering 1 and 2 tackle real-world challenges using the principles of physics and mathematics.

Computer Science: Courses teach programming languages (Swift, Java, C#), web design, Unity game development, and app development, with opportunities to join the school’s IT Help Desk for hands-on tech training.

Architecture & 3D Modeling: Classes such as AutoCAD, Mechanical Drawing, and Architectural Drawing blend math, physics, and design skills.

Medical Applications: The Medical Club connects students to real-world applications of biology, chemistry, and anatomy in healthcare settings.

Robotics: The Robotics course and VEX Robotics Club allow students to design, build, and program robots, often using custom components they fabricate themselves.

Forensic Science: This course applies biology, chemistry, physics, and behavioral science in lab-based investigations.
