At St. X, our Support & Resources foster independence, confidence, and self-advocacy through a strong partnership with students and their families. By understanding their unique learning and work profiles, students can effectively manage assignments, utilize available resources, and collaborate with faculty to ensure accommodations and instructional needs are met for their success.
Excel Program
The Excel Program is one of our personalized programs of study, designed for students who benefit from individualized instruction or skill-building in core subjects. It provides targeted support in reading, mathematics, and writing, helping students strengthen their skills and build confidence for academic success.

- Focused Skill-Building: Emphasis on strengthening foundational skills in reading comprehension, mathematical reasoning, and effective writing
- Collaborative Approach: Teachers, counselors, and families work together to create a customized plan that supports the student's growth and achievement.
School Counseling
Our School Counseling Department fosters the academic, personal, and social-emotional growth of every student, empowering them to reach their potential and prepare for meaningful futures.
- Dedicated Counselors: Students receive consistent four-year support through collaboration with teachers, parents, and administrators.
- Academic Planning: Personalized guidance for course selection, goal setting, and overcoming challenges
- Social-Emotional Support: Confidential assistance with personal challenges, stress management, relationships, and mental health
ACT Prep
St. X offers an outstanding opportunity to prepare for the ACT with six experienced St. X teachers leading comprehensive test- preparation courses. Designed to help students succeed, this program provides:
- Familiarization with the ACT structure and format
- Proven strategies for tackling each section
- Expert tips to boost performance and confidence
- Teacher-led, peer-supported approach to equip students with tools for success
- Support for first-time test-takers and those aiming to improve their scores
Learning accommodations
At St. X, we are proud to provide accommodations to nearly 25% of our students, ensuring that all learners have the opportunity to succeed.
These accommodations are designed to support students with a variety of needs, including:
- ADHD
- Specific learning disorders in reading (dyslexia), math (dyscalculia), or written expression (dysgraphia)
- Anxiety disorders
- Challenges related to processing speed, working memory, or executive function
Our collaborative approach between faculty, families, and students ensures that these accommodations are effectively integrated into the learning experience, enabling students to thrive academically and build confidence for the future.
The Viscusi Learning support center
The Viscusi Learning Support Center (VLSC) provides resources for students with learning differences and supports faculty in ensuring accommodations and equal access to learning for all St. X students. Open to all students, the center is staffed by four dedicated faculty members who offer academic and organizational support.
