From Louisville to Bungoma: Living Xaverian Values Across Continents

Faculty member Rosanna Vessels recently traveled to Bungoma, Kenya, to visit our brother school, St. X, alongside alumnus Scott Haner ’76 and JoAnn Haner. During the visit, Rosanna led a class focused on Xaverian Values, guiding students through reflection, group dialogue, and personal goal setting, strengthening the bonds of faith and brotherhood across the globe.

The group also toured the James Ryken Center for Hope and shared a meaningful dinner with the Xaverian Brothers in Nairobi, deepening their connection to the wider Xaverian community.

One of the most memorable moments came when the visitors saw the Bungoma students proudly wearing their new Saint Xavier t-shirts, gifts from their brothers in Louisville. The shirts serve as a symbol of the shared mission and spirit that unites these two schools thousands of miles apart.

This visit underscores Saint Xavier’s commitment to its Catholic, Xaverian identity and its dedication to forming young men who live those values locally and worldwide.
