Saint Xavier Names Chief Financial Officer

Louisville, Ky. (June 23, 2025) – Saint Xavier High School today proudly announced the appointment of Mr. Jim Mattingly, Class of 1997, as its next Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Mattingly will begin his tenure on August 1, 2025, working alongside current CFO, Mr. Larry Bergamini, Class of 1979, to ensure a smooth transition. Bergamini will retire in November after 23 years of dedicated service to Saint Xavier.

Mattingly is an accomplished financial executive with more than 25 years of experience across major healthcare and consumer brands. As CFO, he will oversee school financial operations and long-term sustainability, serving as a key partner to the president and leadership team.

With his proven financial leadership, broad expertise and deep understanding of operational management, Jim is the right person to build upon the strong foundation Larry has established,” said Saint Xavier President Paul Colistra. “As an alumnus and parent, he brings a personal connection to our mission and a deep commitment to Catholic education. We are fortunate to welcome him back to Saint Xavier.”

Prior to joining St. X, Mattingly most recently served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at BrightSpring Health Services. Prior to that, he held senior financial leadership roles at Kindred Healthcare, MasterBrand Cabinets, and Yum! Brands.

President Colistra also expressed his gratitude to outgoing CFO Larry Bergamini. “Larry’s forward-thinking leadership and commitment to stewardship have placed the school on solid financial footing. Under his guidance, we’ve seen sustained financial health and the lowest tuition increases in decades. We are incredibly grateful for his 23 years of service.”

“I am thrilled to come home to St. X as a member of the leadership team,” said Mattingly. “This school has such a rich history and was instrumental in establishing the foundation of faith, hard work, and humility that has shaped my personal and professional journey. I’m truly honored to help continue its mission and ensure its long-term financial strength.”

Mattingly holds a Bachelor of Arts from Bellarmine University and an M.B.A. from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. Mattingly and his wife, Renee, have two children. Justine is a rising senior at Assumption High School, and Owen will begin his St. X experience this fall as a freshman.
