Two longtime educators retire after years of shaping St. X mission and students

As another school year comes to a close, St. X honors two members of its faculty and leadership team who retired this year after remarkable careers defined by service, leadership, and a deep commitment to students and the school’s mission.

Jim Stairs, Theology Department teacher, spent his time in the classroom guiding students through questions of faith, purpose, and character. Known for his steady presence and thoughtful approach, he helped generations of Tigers grow not only in understanding, but in how they live out their values beyond St. X.

Cathy Reynolds, Director for Mission and Identity and AP Psychology teacher, played a vital role in strengthening the Xaverian mission across campus while also challenging students to think critically about human behavior and the world around them. Her leadership helped ensure that the mission remained present in both daily school life and long-term formation.

Together, their careers reflect the heart of the St. X experience, where faith, learning, and brotherhood come together in lasting ways. Their impact can be seen in the countless students they taught, mentored, and inspired throughout the years.

We invite alumni to hear their reflections on their time at St. X, the memories they carry with them, and the mission that continues to guide their work and lives.
