Walking Forward In Trust: St. X Opens a New School Year

The start of a school year brings new classes, new opportunities, and new goals. At Saint Xavier, it also brings a renewed call for each student to consider the kind of young man and brother he will choose to be.

Students returned to campus to begin the year with the Tiger Kickoff Rally, gathering the school community for a message from alumnus Jay Arnold ’96. Rather than focusing only on what Tigers hope to accomplish this year, Arnold challenged students to think about how they will pursue those goals and how they will support the people around them along the way.

He encouraged students to “push their gold standard,” approach each day with a “fire in their belly,” and, above all, be a great brother.

“You’ll go fast if you’re alone, but you’ll go far if you’re together,” Arnold told students.

That message reflects an important part of the formation young men experience at St. X. Students are challenged to pursue their individual potential, but they are also taught that their gifts come with a responsibility to others. Achievement is meaningful, but so are the relationships they build, the ways they serve, and the kind of presence they become within their community.

That understanding of brotherhood is especially meaningful as St. X begins the year with the theme “Walk Forward with Trust.” Rooted in the Xaverian value of trust, the theme calls students to have confidence in God, in one another, and in the community accompanying them throughout their journey.

For prospective families, moments like the Tiger Kickoff Rally offer a glimpse into an education that extends beyond a schedule of classes and activities. From the first days of freshman year through graduation, young men are surrounded by teachers, coaches, classmates, alumni, and mentors who challenge them to grow while reminding them they do not make that journey alone.

As another school year begins, St. X moves forward together, ready to learn, compete, serve, lead, and strengthen the brotherhood that connects generations of Tigers.
