Volunteers Opportunities in Campus Ministry
Two vital ways we provide for the spiritual growth of our students is through RETREATS and SERVICE. Please consider supporting our mission by becoming a Saint Xavier Campus Ministry Volunteer.
Retreat/ Classroom Proctor -
The four-year retreat program guides the student on his faith journey with opportunities ranging in focus from recognizing God’s spirit within himself to finding God in nature; from the call to serve others to deepening his own relationship with God, family and peers. During the 2015-2016, we held 12 off campus, 2 or 3-day retreats with more than 385 sophomore, junior and senior participants. The success of these retreats is due to the faculty who sacrifice many hours to prepare and lead these retreats. We are in need of volunteers to proctor the classrooms while these individuals serve in the very important role of retreat leader. As a proctor you will take attendance, monitor the class, and ensure the students have the work provided by the teacher. School administration and staff are available to support you. The time commitment is up to you, it may range from as little as two hours a day to the full, 7-hour school day.
CrossRoads Retreat/ Dinner Volunteer-
If you would like to help but are not available during the daytime hours, maybe you could help with dinner preparation for the CrossRoads Retreats. Responsibilities include warming the already prepared main course and tossing a salad. You may then join the group for dinner and hear the reactions from the young men of their day’s experiences.
Service Project Chaperone-
Consistent with the Saint Xavier mission and educational philosophy, we have a vibrant service program. We plan to expand the opportunities and projects offered in the 2016-2017 school year. Parents willing to chaperone students, working side-by-side with them on service outings, are needed. Sign-up to receive further information.
