The Flik culinary team is honored to have the opportunity to provide breakfast, lunch, after-school snacks, and catering services to the Saint Xavier community.


We are excited to share some of the ways we will continue to focus on Menus of Change, which means increasing fruits and vegetables, more whole grains, less red meat, and nutrient dense meals.

From August through May, our Healthy Foods Matter program will be featuring whole grains. #FlikGrains entrees will start with whole grains, add vegetables or beans/peas; toss on some protein, and top with a splash of sauce. These grain bowls recipes are as varied as they are delicious.

Our Revved Up recipe series continues to enhance recipes by adding nutritious ingredients or making appropriate, nutritious substitutions this school year. The goal is that familiar recipes taste and look as they normally would but have an improved nutritional profile. The new recipes in the series include alfredo sauce, risotto, taco, and veggie burger.

Staying up on nutrition trends, we will be offering spiralized vegetables and blended burgers in the dining hall this year. Nutrient-dense vegetables are made with a spiralizer and used to add vegetables to the plate in a more fun and exciting way. Blended burgers create a delicious patty that's healthier and more sustainable by blending ground meat with chopped mushrooms.

Lastly, we will be launching our improved sports nutrition program called Eat 2 Compete. Many students participate in sports so it is important that they are offered the foods needed for fueling and optimizing performance during their sporting events and activities. In addition, educational components provide the background and support to both students and coaches.

We are eager to use our recently renovated kitchen and food service facilities. Our goal is to provide an enjoyable and exciting dining experience for all. We pride ourselves in preparing high-quality dishes from fresh ingredients. The menus are constantly changing in order to meet students' needs. We offer well-balanced meal options every day with a variety of soups, entrees, vegetarian items, deli selections, and bountiful salads.


Flik will continue its sponsorship of the Culinary Club for the 11th year. This elite group of young men will venture into the wonderful world of Culinary Arts. Beginning August 28th, the Club will meet every other Monday immediately after school in the St. X kitchen. The Club is moderated by a St. X faculty or staff member and the FLIK Culinary Team. Club meetings, which will last about two hours, will start with a basic skills lesson. This club can help prepare students for life and a possible future in Culinary Arts! There is no fee to join and membership is open to all students.
