Saint Xavier High School announced that its former President Dr. Perry E. Sangalli, Class of 1976, left a significant bequest to endow a full scholarship for a Saint Xavier High School student. Dr. Sangalli’s gift is part of the $51 million X Effect Campaign that launched in November 2019. The campaign aspires to make the St. X experience accessible to all qualified students by meeting demonstrated need and decreasing the rate of tuition increases, and build a state-of-the-art academic facility. To date the campaign has raised $48.0 million in gifts and pledges.
“Dr. Sangalli’s generous gift is just one example of his overwhelming commitment to the future of St. X. His leadership and vision charted the course for St. X to continue to be a leader in secondary education,” says St. X President Colistra.
St. X’s endowment is currently valued at $40.1 million and boasts over 300 individually endowed funds. “This transformational gift plays an essential role in our efforts to increase our endowment and provide the school with ongoing resources to make a St. X education as affordable as possible,” says Vice President of Advancement Mike Littell. During the 2020-2021 school year, St. X provided $3.0 million in tuition assistance to 40% of its families.
Dr. Sangalli passed away in 2019. He served at St. X for 38 years, which included an eighteen-year career as the school’s second president.
