Graduation Announcement

Dear Parents,

As a result of our current situation, our daily lives and routines continue to experience unexpected change. After much discernment, Saint Xavier has decided to make a change in our previously communicated graduation plans. Because of the uncertainty of being able to have a face-to-face graduation ceremony in August or on any of the dates in the fall, we have chosen to conduct a drive-through graduation on Sunday, May 17, 2020. While I am sure this decision will be met with varied emotions, we felt this was the best decision for our graduates and their families.

In order to host this event on campus and to create an environment that is safe and complies with social distancing requirements, it is imperative that everyone in attendance follows all directives outlined here.

Drive-Through Graduation Plan

1.     Logistics

c.      The graduate and his parents are expected to enter campus at the main entrance. Once on campus, all vehicles will be directed to the senior parking lot and required to form a carpool line. We will have St. X staff members available to assist with directions.

d.     Once the event begins:

i.     Vehicles will be directed to a large tent where only the graduate will exit the vehicle.

ii.     The graduate will walk under the large tent to receive his diploma case and have his picture taken. (The graduate is expected to be dressed in shirt and tie, clean shaven, and wearing his cap with tassel and gown.)

Either way, it will be a unique memory shared only by this band of brothers who have weathered a spring unlike any of their predecessors.
